Online Shopping Tips

Online Shopping continues to be one of my favorite ways to shop. I don't have to deal with store crowds, I do less impulse shopping, I can find
(continued below)

unusual gifts & best of all it's delivered to my door. I just saved again, no gas spent driving around trying to find that perfect gift or anything else that I needed.

Tip: Before you online shop, sign up for the merchant's specials to be emailed to you. By signing up before you buy, especially if you sign up a few days before, the merchant may email you with online saving coupon codes for your first purchase with them. They may even email you with low or free shipping offers.

I always check for free shipping, most merchants offer this in one way or another. I very seldom pay for shipping and if I do I normally wait for the email that gives me a discounted shipping cost. I also very seldom if ever pay for 2 day or overnight delivery it's has to be a dire need for me to spend that much money.

Another great thing about online shopping is their clearance bins. On some sites this may be called a bargain or sale basement. This is the first place I shop when looking for something. Normally there is something in there or something comparable that I was shopping for, thus saving even more.

Another little tip when ordering online, especially if it is a site your not sure of, make sure and do a little research to make sure the merchant and site is legit. Also, very important, make sure they have a secure site before giving any personal information such as your checking account (if at all possible don't use your checking or ATM account) or credit card number (credit cards are safer to use). A safer site will start with a 'https' in the URL line, this means the site is basically secure. The s at the end of https is the important part. If the s is not there then chances are the site is not secure. Also check to see if there is a little closed/locked lock icon in the corner of your computer (normally in the bottom right hand corner), this also helps to show that the site should have a secure ordering system.

Again like with Store Perks set up a special email account to receive all the online merchants emails & not junk up your regular email account. Now onto some other saving tips.
