Hobbies Use your Hobby and Make Your Holiday Gifts
What kind of hobbies do you have? Do you garden, quilt, sew, wood work...? the list goes on. Here are just a few ideas.(continued below) Do you sew? One of my favorite gifts to receive was homemade pillow cases. I love pulling them out and using them. I will try and get the instruction for the pillow cases again and share it here. I believe they take a yard of fabric. What's nice about these is you can customize them to whatever the person you're giving them to likes. Such as horses, tractors, pets, ect. Fabrics come in all kinds of designs, so the ideas are unlimited. Make sure to check the clearance bin first, before paying full price for fabric. Also check & see if your favorite fabric store has an online store & sign up for their online newsletter for coupons & discounts. Do you quilt? No you don't have to make a quilt, but how about making a simple Holiday Wall/or Door hanging. Another great gift would be a quilted spice hot pad or spiced coffee cup coasters. I love these because when you put a cup of coffee on them as they warm up they put out a nice spice smell. You could even give a coffee cup filled with goodies or perhaps put the spiced coaster in the cup. Add a little ribbon & your gift is ready to go. Do you garden? How about starting now and put together some potted plants. Do you have a plant or two that are easy to take cuttings from? Use your cutting & put two or more plants together in a container. Now about the containers, these can sometimes be quite expensive. Check around the house for pots perhaps you never used. I bought several pots on clearance years ago & they were stuffed away in a cabinet so out those came. A couple other great places to check, your local Dollar Store or even your local goodwill or thrift store. We picked up about 8 unique containers from our local thrift store in all sizes for about $10. We went to the kitchen section and picked up any unique pot we could find. Some of what we found were large granite pot, an old warming pot used at receptions, a bunt pan and even an old flour sifter. My husband drilled draining holes in the bottom of the containers and then we planted some starts we found. We started these now so that by December they'll be well started. So take a look at your hobby, give a little thought of what you could make. Be creative & save some money. Have fun!!
