The Twelve Gift Ideas of Christmas

Some of these gift ideas are listed in various pages throughout the site, but I thought I'd list them all here with links for easy access as well as some more gift ideas all in one place.
(continued below)

  • 1) Give a Coupon Organizer with coupons you've clipped included in it and the address of this site/page with links for online coupons to print out & clip and other couponing ideas (wink! wink! :)). Or perhaps a coupon wallet and a subscription to the local weekend newspaper that has coupons to clip. Remember if they are not a coupon clipper/user then only clip coupons that save at least a dollar or more. When we see bigger savings it's easier to clip those coupons. For simple coupon holders/wallets check out the Saving Money astore. For a more elaborate coupon organizer click here Or make your own for a little or no cost gift. Another great coupon gift are Fundraiser Coupon Books, these books have mainly 2 for 1 fast food and restaurant coupons, find a local organization that's sells these wonderful books, not only will they make a great gift but you are also helping a local school or organization. It's that time of year that the kids are selling these. This little book gives all year long also, since the coupons don't expire until the end of the new year.

Another great coupon book is the Entertainment Book below. It has even more coupons. From eating out to movie coupons to shopping coupons and even travel savings. Go check out this book and see what types of coupons in your area it has. Well worth the money and makes a great gift. The one I purchased for our area had coupons for grocery shopping at one of our favorite store and those alone paid for the book.

  • 2)How about the gift of a website. SBI is making it even easier to create your own website. You now have two payment options, 1st you can pay the yearly payment or for a limited time you can pay using the the SBI! Monthly Payment Option of only $29.99 monthly. Have you and or your spouse always wanted to create a website. What about an older child, how great would it be to start them out now and who knows where they can go with it. This would make a great Christmas gift that gives all year long!

  • 4) Hobbies. Do you garden, how about taking some clippings & either give a vase w/ flowers or make some potted plants w/ a plant that starts easy. Do you quilt or sew -- how about making some coffee cup warmers & include with a coffee cup.

  • 5) Another great gift idea for the whole family... Do you have a local amusement park, zoo, museum or aquarium near by? How about a family membership to one of these. Not only does it give all year long, is a gift for the whole family, but it also encourages family time together. Ok, so some amusement park memberships can be a bit pricey, but check around and see what is reasonable. Perhaps there is a miniature golf / arcade close by, check and see what kind of memberships they have. Have fun with this.

  • 6) Gift Jars - not only are these great gifts but they are fun to make. With so many gift jar types and recipes, there's one for most everyone. Add a small cooking utensil, an ornament with a ribbon to the jar or container.

  • 7) It used to be gift cards were considered impersonal, but any more they make great gifts, the recipient can pick out something they've been wanting but wouldn't buy themselves, or perhaps it will help with the needs for the month. How about a gas card, most everyone can use one of those, attach it to a toy car with ribbon. They have gift cards for just about every store now. Have fun decorating those gift cards.

  • 8) Do you have a family member or friend that likes to try new recipes, how about an online cookbook like those As Seen On TV - Secret Restaurant Recipes Click Here! or

Click Here! for a Once A Week Cooking Club Membership.

  • 9) A gift of your time, make your own gift card & include your gift of time - perhaps making and delivering a dinner or dessert once a month or even just once. You could mow their lawn or plant some flowers, or host a freezer meal party. These are greats gifts that can cost little or nothing. Be creative, remember this can cost nothing but some of your time.

  • 10) Take some clear wrapping paper and wrap up a baking dish/pan with a cake and frosting mix and perhaps a favorite recipe or maybe a mixing bowl with the ingredients to make a simple dinner.

  • ****************************
  • 11) Make a gift, how about a recipe book, you can take something as simple as a note or journal book and write your favorite recipes in it with room for the recipient to add more. You could even add some of the recipes you find here, check out Gift Jars and Cook at Home for more recipes. A good friend of mine made me one over 20 years ago and to this day I still pull it out and use it.

Another great gift idea you can make at little or not cost is ornaments made from pine cones. Go to the park and pick up small pine cones, you can embellish them with a little bit of paint on the tips or perhaps buy a can of glitter spray and add a little glitter to the cones, add a ribbon so the recipient can hang then on their tree. You could give a small set of these for a wonderful gift. Or arrange the pine cones and hot glue them together to make a wreath and embellish the wreath once your done. Great, simple and little or no cost gifts!

  • 12) Start a savings account for a child and perhaps for each birthday and Christmas deposit an amount equal to their age or amount equal to the date of their birthday. Be creative about what amount to deposit. Not only will this be beneficial to them in the future but will teach them to save as they grow up watching their savings grow. If you still feel they need a gift go to the dollar store and pick up a little something to include with the savings deposit.
