A few years ago I would have said a crockpot is a crockpot and not thought anything of it. But about 3 years ago we bought a new crockpot/slow cooker, because of a special feature it had. When it finally went out last month and we couldn’t find another one like it locally, we decided to just try another crockpot/slow cooker that was nice. (continued below)
But when we got it home and then tried using it, we discovered it didn’t cook like the previous one. What? Don’t they all cook the same? Well, evidently not, now I would have never guessed this, but it’s true.
What I discovered was that the shape of the crockpot/slow cooker is what makes the difference. Now I understand, what recipe reviewers meant when they said something didn’t cook in the time stated in the recipe. At 1st I just though perhaps they didn’t let the meal cook long enough. But what folks forgot to put in their recipes is perhaps what type of crockpot/slow cooker they were using.
The crockpot we bought to replace our old favorite one was an oblong type of crockpot/slow cooker. It was a very nice one, but just didn’t cook for us like the old one. So needless to say online I went looking for a replacement just like my old crockpot. I found it at several merchant sites, but discovered amazon had it for the best price. Check it out in the pictures below it comes in two types of colors, all black (more expensive) and fall/autumn colors (the one we bought). I do want to forewarn you the shipping was a bit pricey, but still less than anyplace else I found.
So what is my favorite crock pot? When I saw this crockpot/slow cooker advertised I wanted it, because I thought it would be perfect for our family. The Hamilton Beach 3 in 1 Slow Cooker is our favorite crockpot! I found with the typical crockpot/slow cooker I felt I had to fill it too much and found we wasted more food than we should have. With the Hamilton Beach 3 in 1, as you can see below it comes with 3 different size bowls (2, 4 & 6 quart). Our favorite of course is the smallest bowl, as we cook for just the two of us. But still have available to us the two larger bowls in case we have company or are cooking for a potluck or gathering.
I think what makes this crockpot/slow cooker cook so well is the shape of the bowls, they are not shaped like your typical round or oblong crockpots. They are shaped more like a mixing bowl, narrower at the bottom tapering out at the top. So if you’re looking for a versatile crockpot check this one out.
