Coupon Savings.....Using coupons is one of my favorite ways to save some money.
You can clip coupons, go online and printout the coupons you want to use and now there are even merchants who have incentive cards that you can load coupons onto and use. This last one is great because you don't have to clip and carry coupons.
If you have a rewards type card, just go online to that merchant and see if they let you load coupons onto the card. The one we use is for Safeway and it allows us to go to 3 or 4 online coupon sites to find and load our coupons.
We also subscribe to just the weekend newspaper, because that's normally when all the manufacture coupons savings come out and it is also cheaper than subscribing to the daily paper and cheaper than buying the weekend paper each weekend.
Our local newspaper offers just weekend subscriptions for $20 a year, which includes Saturday, Sunday & Monday delivery. Which if purchased at a news stand would cost us $2.50 a week or $130 a year... WOW... What a great savings. By just subscribing to the weekends, we saved $110 a year. Now where could we put that
money we saved?
I don't normally clip any coupon for less than a $1 savings, unless I know for sure it is for an item I will be buying within the next month. Otherwise I'll have a
coupon wallet
full of coupons I'll probably never use.
We save at least $20 a month by using the clipped coupons, and just buying what we need. I don't clip or use a coupon for items I don't normally use. Let's calculate that saving out. At approximately $20 a month in coupons used, I just saved another $240 a year....
I also watch for the store ads/flyers (in the weekend newspaper), who advertise an item as
free after a mail-in rebate.
I use a coupon also with this offer & save even more.
There are online coupon sites you can go to also to find coupons you may use. Make sure that when you print the coupons out that the UPC bar prints out correctly, otherwise your grocery or other store may not except it.
Magazines are also a good source of coupons, although few, they normally are for more than a $1 off an item. So if it's a magazine I like to read anyway, it's a bonus.
A final note about manufacturers coupons...Always remember to read the terms/details carefully, like;
the expiration date
if you have to purchase more than one item to use the coupon (they don't pro-rate them)
you may have to purchase a certain size or larger than size
do you have to purchase another item in addition to the item you are purchasing
Sometimes you may have to make separate purchases if you have more than one of the same coupon that you want to use. I had 3 coupons for $1.50 off of an item that was $1.69 regularly. I couldn't buy 3 of the items & use my 3 coupons in the same purchase. So I had the sales person make it 3 separate purchases.
And remember you still have to pay tax on the original price of the item, if it's a taxable item.
So lets get clipping...use those coupon savings to save money...& have fun....

It is better to have tried and failed than to fail to try.
> Tax Refund - Are you getting money back from taxes this year? How about taking that money and starting a savings account with it. Perhaps you've always wanted to take a nice vacation, even if it's not enough for this year, you could take a mini trip with part of it and save the rest for perhaps a bigger vacation next year.
> Keep a Change Jar - Keeping a change jar is a great way to save money without even trying. Just empty out your pockets and/or purses each day of it's change into your savings jar. You'll be surprised at how much you have saved at the end of the month. We've used the savings from our change jar along with the savings from the next tip to take mini vacations.
> Coupons/Rebates - I know, not coupons, but you know you really can save money from clipping and/or downloading those coupons. Combine those coupons with rebates and save even more, possibly getting the item free, I've even made money with rebates and coupons. Keep your eyes open, you never know what great deals are out there. This month at our grocery store if you buy $15 in specific frozen foods you get a coupon for a free movie theater ticket valued up to $13 for one ticket. How great is that groceries and a movie.
