Budgeting...
Starting Out

Budgeting...Starting Out..

Let's get started. This will be painless....ok mostly painless..... :-)

First we need to do is go grab a notebook or some lined paper. You will also need a couple of folders, large envelopes or anything to put your bills & paychecks and other income in. We want to keep these items together and handy so we can always find them. Do you have a calendar you don't mind writing on, grab that too.

Next let's get a copy of each of our most recent monthly bills and any other bills we pay during the year not just once a month. These are the bills we sometime forget about until they come do & then wonder how we are going to pay them. Thus putting a hardship on us sometimes.

We are going to try to prevent these surprise bills from sneaking up on us again. By planning now when we will pay them or at least budget a savings each month so when they come due we can pay them. No hardship, no loans, no pain, no stress on how to pay them.... great!

Let's start thinking about and putting down on paper the items we know for sure like:

  • The regular bills we pay each month
  • Any other bills
  • How much our paycheck is after all the deductions have been taken out, and
  • Any other income we may receive

Let's talk a little more in detail about each of these & then put them together.
